Driving Directions

From San Jose - Juan Santa Maria Airport (SJO)

This airport is located about 171 miles, 5 hours by car, from Flamingo.  Take the Panamerican highway.  When you reach the town of Limonal, keep going straight and continue going strait through Cañas until you arrive in Liberia.  At the traffic light in Liberia make a left turn towards Belen.  In Belen, make a right turn at the road sign directing you to Playa Flamingo.  Eventually you will reach a stop sign at a T in the road. Take a left at this stop sign and follow this road to the town of Huacas.  In Huacas,  follow the signs to make a right toward Playa Flamingo. You will pass Reserva Conchal on your left and cross a small bridge in Brasilito.  Following the road signs to make a right toward Playa Flamingo and continue on this main road to arrive in the town of Flamingo.

From Tamarindo Airstrip

The Tamarindo Airstrip is located about 20 minutes from Flamingo by car or taxi. At the airport entrance turn left and follow the main road out of Tamarindo.  In the town of Villareal you will reach a stop sign at the T in the road.  Make a left turn at the T.   At the intersection in Huacas make a left turn.  In about one mile, follow the signs to make a right turn toward Playa Flamingo and Playa Brasilito.  Stay on this road until you get to the town of Brasilito where you will cross a one lane bridge.  Take the right hand turn toward Playa Flamingo, about 100 meters after the small bridge in Brasilito, and at a yield sign.  Remain on this road, passing the cross to Playa Potrero.  The road will curve to the left and follow the beach to Flamingo.

You can also fly in to Tamarindo from Liberia and San Jose.

From Liberia International Airport (LIR)

This airport is located about 45 minutes from Flamingo Beach.  Take a right out of the airport way onto the main highway.  Follow the highway through to Belen.  Make a right turn at the road sign directing you to Playa Flamingo.  When you reach a T in the road, take a left at this stop sign and follow this road.  You will pass the Oasis Gas Station on your left and then pass over a large hill.  After descending the hill, you will come to the town of Huacas.  Continue through Huacas, passing SuperCompro on your right andfollow the signs make a right toward Playa Flamingo.  Pass Reserva Conchal on your left and cross the small bridge in the town of Brasilito.  About 100 meters after the bridge, follow the road signs to make a right toward Playa Flamingo and continue on this road, passing the cross to Playa Potrero, curving to the left  and following the beach road to arrive in Flamingo.
